I just found out that Autodesk released a drawing application for the iPad. However, I don't have an iPad or $550 to spend on one (with the app).

Are there any Android tablets that you can draw with?

I'm wondering if the iPad is the only device really capable of handing this right now since you need such precise touch-sensing when drawing. I would also rather use a pen than my hand. It would be great if I could find something $400 or less that I can do the same thing with.

Toting my wacom tablet around isn't as much fun and requires a laptop or PC.

Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile ($0.99 or the free Sketchbook Express) is available for Android and should work on any Android tablet. You can use your fingers, a stylus (made for capacitive touch screens) will be more precise than your finger but less so than a Wacom stylus, a Bluetooth mouse which should be very precise or the zoom mode of the software.

The iPad Pro version is $4.99. I hope they introduce a Pro version for Android.

Thanks @Dennis Williamson, I'm glad to hear there is software for this, but how do I find a tablet that supports this? I'm more interested in the hardware than whatever apps are out ATM. I'm sure that some tablets have a better touch service - but I can't find anything about the sensitivity of these on any sites. They all just say "Touch Screen"! – Xeoncross Jun 21 '11 at 15:22
+1 to this comment. I bought a stylus for my cheapo android tablet hoping it could serve as a mobile sketchbook (i already got sketchbook pro for android) but the stylus works just horrible, while i can draw with my finger. This left me wondering - is it a stylus or a tablet issue. – K.L. Oct 15 '12 at 18:27

You might want to take a look at the HTC Flyer. It supports a special "pen" accessory, which makes it seem an ideal replacement for a wacom tablet. From what I can see, the tablet is $500, with the pen running an additional $80.

Look really nice, but drawing doesn't seem to be a big point with it - just doodles. Also, the $500 price is a bit much for me. Nevertheless, it's a great start. – Xeoncross Jun 24 '11 at 19:06
@Xeoncross I don't know that you're going to find a quality Android Tablet, much less one that is designed for drawing, for under $500 dollars. Not for a few years anyways. – shadowfission Jun 24 '11 at 21:40
