I'm looking for an outlining apps with these features ...

  1. Collapsible tree views to at least 5 levels
  2. Touch screen interface
  3. Synching to a free web based application/server
  4. Preferably the outlining apps is also free

Searching Android Market for "outlining" and similar gets me a few apps ...

  • meets 1 & 2 but missing 3 synching -- "outliner by Alfred Fritz", "Idea Tree Free",
  • meets 2 & 3 but only partially 1 -- "GTasks by Dato", "Astrid"
  • only two seems to meet first three features "iRT GTasks Outliner" and "Google Task Organizer" synching to Google Tasks.

Did I miss other apps meeting the requirements?

You are going to have a hard time finding an app that meets #1. There is not a "tree" control in android, and with the limited real-estate, expanding to 5 levels deep isn't really practical. Expanding more then one level is really not recommended, which is why a tree control was not created for developers. – Ryan Conrad Jun 27 '11 at 14:31
The iRT GTasks Outliner screenshots on market.android.com/details?id=com.irt.tasks does show a tree view expanded to at least 4 levels. I've just tested that it is able to go to 5 levels (didn't test more). Not having a built-in android tree control may explain why I don't see many apps with this necessary outlining feature. You may want to give Thinking Space a shot. It's technically mind-mapping software, but you can export to an outline format, supports much more than 5 sub-levels, has a touch screen interface, and you can save to cloud/dropbox. There is a TS - Cloud Module add-on as well.
