I need to root my phone in order to tether it to an iPad. I have tried everything i found, but no success: - Exploid - SuperOneClick - z4modd (z4root) - Universal Androot

well, i'm a newbie when it comes to Android, but i know my way around computers, and i am starting to feel a little stupid.

Can someone shed a light on this for me?

Can you give some details on what happened with your failed attempts? Also I recommend checking out this XDA thread and making sure you meet the prerequisites at the bottom of the first post. – Matthew Read♦ Aug 2 '11 at 15:38

@Izzy (and others): We've moved away from the idea of a canonical "How do I root my device" question. The rooting methods are too disparate. We now prefer individual questions by device. Please see: meta.android.stackexchange.com/questions/790/… – Al Everett Aug 22 '12 at 17:52
