I have put myself into some trouble. My defy wont boot. I have gone to the Android recovery console and have a few options there.

I option is apply sdcard:update.zip

can someone explain me what this update.zip file is and where can i find this for my Defy.

What happened before you got this error? update.zip is normally the name of a firmware update package, though I was under the impression Motorola phones didn't use it. You may want to read this XDA thread and the thread(s) it links to. –  Matthew Read Oct 4 '11 at 18:55
    
i was actually trying to install the nandroid backup for 2.3 (gingerbread) on my phone through the customrecovery. but i forgot to flash the SBF file and i rebooted it. And since it did not find any boot loader, it was stuck with the booting screen... –  Shrewd Demon Oct 5 '11 at 4:28
