The Music app worked fine for years, but now it does not display any songs at all. They are still on my SD card and I have tried the suggestions in this similar recent question: Music Player Not Displaying Songs? and it did not work. I have the original Motorola Droid on Verizon with Android Version 2.2.2.

I have rebooted repeatedly, cleared data in Media Storage. Using the ASTRO file system app, I can find the songs and get single songs to play but even after playing a song, Music does not remember it. I can use ASTRO to make a playlist that will show up in Music but it is empty. Another App that let's me set a background image for that App also cannot find any image on my phone. However Gallery can find the images.

This just started recently. Did something get updated that broke all of this?

Have you tried unmounting and mounting your SD Card from your Phone ? – X10MiniPro Oct 12 '11 at 8:16
Only the software mount and unmount. I have not actually physically taken the card out. ASTRO has no problem reading the card, although Music did, at least once, complain about error reading the SD card. – FrankH Oct 12 '11 at 8:20
