I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with Android 2.3.3. I've set all my mail accounts' email check frequency to Never, but I would like my phone to check for new mail whenever I open the mail app. Is that possible?

i dont think so. if ur using the GMAIL or the EMAIL built in app. u will need to hit menu and sync – Harsha M V Nov 12 '11 at 19:43
