How do I set (global) proxy settings in Froyo? I want to access market, but my college wifi does not work without proxy.

EDIT:
Is there any way to set proxy without rooting?

Wifi proxy settings were not added until Android 3.0 (here's the issue on the tracker and here is the comment noting its release). If you're willing to root your device you could try something like TransProxy, though.

Any thing other than rooting? I tried connectify but even connectify has no proxy settings :( I am feeling unlucky –  LifeH2O Dec 27 '11 at 6:39

@LifeH2O: I don't know of any method that doesn't require rooting if Connectifiy doesn't support it (other than buying your own wireless access point, which I know most colleges in the US would frown upon, don't know about elsewhere). –  eldarerathis Dec 27 '11 at 13:54

That's a 3G proxy, though. Aren't you looking for wifi proxy settings to get onto your school's network? –  eldarerathis Dec 15 '11 at 18:35

@eldarerathis I don't know. I'll try this method on my friends phone (my phone has gone for warranty) and will tell if it works or not. –  LifeH2O Dec 16 '11 at 19:50
