I have a USB adapter to pick up internet on my desktop and an external hard drive through USB, and they stop responding immediately after I plug in either android phone, I have to restart after this happens because the wireless internet options never regain function until reboot. I have an iPhone which works just fine when I plug it in to my computer. I initially had USB Debugging on when I noticed this issue, so I turned it off, rebooted and tried again with same results. I have the latest software for both devices.

Suggestions?

Are you plugging them all into the same bus? I would guess it doesn't have enough power for all of them. – Matthew Read♦ Feb 13 '12 at 19:33
This sounds like it is probably an issue beyond your Android device, so I would suggest asking over on Super User if you're still seeing this behavior (or flag this and I can migrate it there, but since it's somewhat old I'm not going to migrate it at the moment). – eldarerathis♦ Sep 30 '12 at 15:26
