I have a Chinese made android v2.3.4 tablet. Model H7, Build 97F2. The tablet was working well until yesterday when I noticed that it wasn't playing sound or video. I uninstalled some recently installed apps and finally did a factory reset but the problem persisted. After browsing some forums I found that someone else had the same problem which was resolved when the phone was put in standby. If I play a mp3, there is no sound as long as the screen is on. If I turn the screen off using either the hardware power button or any of the available software screen lock buttons, I can hear the sound. The sound disappears when the screen is turned on again. Has anyone had a similar problem? What could the cause be?
The device no longer plays hardware accelerated video too. Youtube app does not work. MX Player can play videos in software mode(without sound)
