So I'm trying to back up my galaxy s2 before doing an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich

I'm using the Samsung Kies (by the way, is there a better way? this program sucks) to do this.

I'm backing up everything. And it's all going smoothly, until I get to Misc Content Files number 526 of 4000. It's been sitting on this file for ages, like 40 minutes. And I don't know if the file is just massive or if the file is locked or the program is just hanging?

Anyway, I'm not sure whether I should just close the program down and start again?

How can I stop Kies from hanging? Is there something I gotta do with my phone beforehand?

There's no way to tell why it would be hanging without more information about that particular file. Try backing up with an alternative program like The Missing Sync: markspace.com/products/android/missing-sync-android.html There are also on-phone backup options like Titanium and MyBackup. – Oliver G Jul 18 '12 at 12:01
