Recently received ICS on my Galaxy Note. After it installed, my entire desktop was wiped, and basically restored to factory settings, including dopey things like the S Memo widgets and gigantic AccuWeather widget on the front page. No applications were uninstalled, just the shortcuts. The background image was retained.

Was this meant to happen, or did something go wrong? It's pretty irritating, because some of the shortcuts I'd set up (eg, Offi directions) are time consuming to replicate.

Depends on manufacturers in how they update to ICS, my Xperia Mini (2011 model) was upgraded via PC companion suite which retained everything before the upgrade and re-applied it after. And yes, I lost my icons as well, it takes 5 minutes tops to get them back in place. Not irritating as you say! – t0mm13b Aug 11 '12 at 1:03

@Steve agreed. If you don't have backups you shouldn't complain. Most (all?) third party launchers offer backup. – Richard Borcsik Aug 11 '12 at 18:42
you are a lot less likely to get real detailed answers with a 14% acceptance rating. Everyone of your questions has at least 1 answer, if none of them have actually answered your question, there are ways to further promote your question. – Ryan Conrad Aug 11 '12 at 22:12
