I'm looking for an e-mail client (POP3 or IMAP) that won't store my password. I would like to be asked for the password each time I start the e-mail client. I don't need background updates, I just want to be able to check my e-mails manually when necessary.

Does anyone have an idea?

I have already tried K9, Maildroid, jMail and Aqua Mail but they all absolutely want to store my password. The only solution I found so far is to use the web access for my e-mail. But I would prefer a solution where I don't have to enter my login again (just the password) and where the e-mail remains available for offline use.

Edit: I have now also tried "EmailTray Email App" => want to store the password too.

Edit 2: I found out that this is on the wish list for K-9 but with low priority. Someone has written a patch for a solution with a not stored master password but this isn't yet in the official version of K-9.

And why would you want to do that? – Flow Aug 27 '12 at 0:19
@Flow: Because in normal cases I want to avoid receiving my e-mails on the phone, they can/should wait until I'm at home. And because I don't want my e-mail password to be stored in the sd memory of the phone for the case it get lost/stole/need to be send to repair (The 3rd case actually happened to me, shortly after asking this question) – Name Aug 28 '12 at 16:56

What email server? If its gmail, why not enable 2-step authentication - you do not have to use your real password, only the generated one, in that way, if the worst happens, the generated password can be revoked thus denying access to gmail. – t0mm13b Sep 14 '12 at 23:21
@t0mm13b: +1 if it were gmail, it would be a good alternative. But it isn't gmail, so that I'm still looking for a solution. – Name Sep 22 '12 at 14:23
