I recently returned from a special event where I took several dozen photos with my HTC One phone. I attempted to transfer the photos located in the mnt/emmc/DCIM/100MEDIA folder to the mnt/sdcard/DCIM/100ANDRO folder using the Astro app so I could transfer to my computer like I have in the past.

However, this time when I viewed the photos after the transfer, all of the photos show a file size of 0 KB except for the last two which work properly. I previously verified the photos were showing properly before the transfer. Strangely, the video files did not seem to be affected.

Has anyone heard of this problem in the past and know of a fix, or can anyone recommend a good file or photo recovery tool as a last recourse? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Could it have been a space issue (card full), which had truncated them? Anyway, I find it a bit too complicated: Why do you have to copy them twice? First, can't you simply change the storage of your camera app to directly use the external card? If not, I'd recommend an app like e.g. AirDroid, so you can directly access them without first copying them around on your device. – Izzy Sep 18 '12 at 6:37
Thanks for your response. It's possible that it may have been a space issue, but I didn't think to check that. The reason I have to copy them to the SD card first is because when I connect through USB I can only access SD card not internal storage. – user1457323 Sep 18 '12 at 6:57
In any case, I've gone through the internal storage with a file browser and I'm resigned to the fact I will probably need to run a file recovery program. But I'm not sure how to access the internal storage directly to run a file recovery program since my phone is not rooted. I might open a separate question to deal with this issue. – user1457323 Sep 18 '12 at 6:59
