Shows ad-hoc network but cant connect to it

I have a tablet with specifications

Model number : si7slim

Android version : 4.0.4

Baseband Version :1.4.1

Kernel version : 3.0.8

I want to connect it with a wifi hotspot created in my PC running windows 7. The hotspot network shows up in my wifi network list when I turn the wifi but it doesnt connect to the network.

How do I connect to the network.
