While jogging, I listen to music from my phone and I put a lock to prevent it from doing interesting things. However, I think it tried many wrong passwords and it is locked. Now, phone is overheating, buttons don't work and screen is completely black but I can still listen to music. Since I don't want a hard reset not to lose my apps and data, what else can I do?

Take it back to get your local carrier to get it looked at, it should not be overheating. – t0mm13b Oct 2 '12 at 19:09
unless I can get some useful answers, that is exactly what I will do first tomorrow. – ferhat elmas Oct 2 '12 at 19:12

The question is vague, no clues, nothing, we're not mind-readers, hence you got downvoted, include more details so that we can help you. Post a vague question, you will get a vague answer, a commment here or there to weed out what is happening. Is it rooted, running cpu overclocking, etc... No effort shown, so... put it back on you, what have you tried? – t0mm13b Oct 2 '12 at 19:16
no fantastic things like rooted, overclocking are done on the phone, it is just default. What I only did is removing battery and putting back it and then rebooting. I hear the sound, button lights are turned on but I can't press them, it starts overheating and screen is black, that's all. – ferhat elmas Oct 2 '12 at 19:25

Fair enough, I'll re-iterate it, take it back, sounds faulty, no further answers will help.. :( fingers crossed you will get a more solid answer from the carrier shop/dealer. Let us know how it works out :) – t0mm13b Oct 2 '12 at 19:28

This sounds more like crashed than locked. Remove the battery and put it back in. Reboot. It might be true that you can't login, but this is not indicated by a black screen.

yeap we can call it crashed but already tried what you suggest, I can hear the sound of splash but black screen again appears and buttons are not clickable. When I put the battery back, it also starts overheating. – ferhat elmas Oct 2 '12 at 19:00
In that case I can tell you what the service will recommend first, and you won't like it much: factory reset. Maybe, if you're lucky, somebody knows how to boot your device in "safe mode" (i.e. without starting any custom apps). If so, try that and see if it still overheats. If it doesn't, backup what you can, disable/remove apps you can live without, and try over. With some luck the evil-doer is among those apps. – Izzy Oct 2 '12 at 19:36
it is worth of a try, I will keep it in my mind but as you say, I would like to hear the suggestion of the service first. FYI, winamp was the app working on foreground when that had happened. – ferhat elmas Oct 2 '12 at 19:54
