In Germany I tethered a lot with my motorola defy and it just worked fine. Now that I have 6 month in Dakar, I'd love to tether the internet connection too, but it doesn't work. Here, my mobile internet connection is with orange, and they set up an apn connection for me. Using tethering in the system settings opens a wlan network but it seems it doesn't provide an internet connection. Can anyone bring my phone internet on my nexus 7?

Maybe your provider is "not supporting" tethering (i.e. is actively suppressing packages coming not directly from the device connected to the APN)? Did you check their "terms of use"? – Izzy Nov 19 '12 at 13:00
