I have a noname Android set-top box with root access via ADB. I want to build & flash custom ROM for it. How can I flash a custom recovery?

A custom recovery must explicitly support your device. There are several custom recoveries around, like AmonRa, ClockworkMod and TRWP. Check for them and read their instructions whether your device is supported and, if so, how to install the chosen custom recovery. – Izzy Dec 26 '12 at 10:47
