I downloaded update.zip from various sources to try and root my Samsung Galaxy Y phone. In recovery mode, it says the firmware was successfully updated. However, when I reboot the phone, nothing is changed. Superuser isn't there, and I downloaded it only for it to tell me I don't have root access. I also tried SuperOneClick but it repeatedly freezes. I tried it with and without 'allow USB debugging' checked, as I was told that in a tutorial.

Can anyone help me?
