I downloaded the google play app, and it says I need to add an account to access. When I go to accounts/sync and add account, I do not get the same prompts as I do on my phone. The phone asks which type of account, whereas my tablet shows these prompts:

Domain/username Password Server

The server prompt automatically has "", the password field is already filled, and the domain/username field displays "/my username". Trying the preset fields, yields a "unable to connect to server" message. Where do I go from here?

Installing the Play Store alone generally won't be sufficient. You also need the underlying frameworks that it is built upon, which includes the account management functionality. I would recommend taking a look at How can I install the Google Apps Package (Play Store, ...) on my Android device? – eldarerathis Jan 27 '13 at 23:44
Also keep in mind that the playstore app needs to be installed as system app in order to work properly. – Izzy Jan 28 '13 at 9:21
