Droid 4 upgraded to ICS. Handset speaker volume issue. Using a wired headset, headset speaker volume good. Using onboard speakerphone, onboard speaker volume good. Using onboard speaker by holding handset to ear as designed and like any other phone, volume extremely poor at best, even with in-call volume set to maximum. In order to hear the other party, either speakerphone or headset must be used.

Is there a solution to this? Since both Google and Motorola have made DIRECT contact impossible, neither knowledge base contains any reference to this, and all other contact with either business party requires one surrendering one's marketing data (personal information to be sold later at a profit), this question is posted here.

This could be hardware problem - as matter of interest, how was the speaker prior to upgrade to ICS - if it was good, then maybe a downgrade is needed... but before you object saying But I want the latest ICS features, ask yourself if its worth it, with the problem at hand? – t0mm13b Feb 21 at 23:42
