I'm trying to help a friend about a device with a locked screen to which he forgot the password for it. There are no associated accounts. While trying to perform the steps described in Disable Pattern Lock via ADB, I get the following error:

enter image description here

sqlite3: permission denied

If I type sqlite3 without any parameters, I get the same error.

I don't know if the device is rooted. It's an Android Eclair, the Windows PC it's connected to has the drivers for it, adb is working and reports the device when I type adb devices.

How can I perform sqlite3 commands on it, specifically on the file I want?

You might want to check with which sqlite3 where the sqlite3 command is taken from, and then verify its permissions using ls -l /path/to/sqlite3. Maybe your ROM baker messed up the permissions. On the only unrooted devices I have, the ROM bakers even forgot to install sqlite3 binaries :( – Izzy Feb 24 at 1:54
