are you using custom rom or stock one? also please specify version. – MattLin Mar 15 at 10:51
I could be a bad guy and ask whether you have a SIM card and also put it into your S2. But I try to be nice and phrase it differently: Could you provide some more details: Do you get any SIM card errors, what is your provider, what ROM yare you using, have you already checked with your provider if there are any problems with your account/contract, does the same SIM work in other phones, what have you already tried to fix your problem? As it is currently phrased, your question is difficult to answer (if at all). – Izzy Mar 15 at 10:54
@Izzy i dont have any sim card errors dont really know much about phones it was my mums phone on orange? i had it unlocked to put my vodafone sim in and it worked fine up untill now? my sim does work in other phones just not this one? – leelee21xo Mar 16 at 12:04
I'd say your unlock was not successful -- but it worked before. I'd say your card might be "locked" -- but it works on other phones, so this is out as well. Have you tried Kurian's suggestion and temporarily removed the battery? – Izzy Mar 16 at 12:08
yes i have done that and it still wont work, dont know what else to do really. – leelee21xo Mar 16 at 12:16

The Galaxy S2 has a bug where it disconnects with "Baseband Unknown" and will never connect again without physically disconnecting the battery.
