I'd like a good slider lock for my Incredible. Any suggestions? It would also be nice if I could lock the phone remotely (say from my computer) in the event it was stolen.

Alternatively if I could set it so I don't have to do the default "slide to unlock" and the built-in lock that would work too.

I think this should be two distinct questions as screen locking and phone remote tracking/deactivation are distinct things. – Rich Seller Aug 1 '10 at 16:02

For lock screen apps, there's a good roundup of options at tested.com, depending on what you're after you can either augment the lock screen to act more like the home screen or tweak the settings to allow more flexible locking approaches.

If you want finer control over when to use the keyguard and when to use simple sliding or no locking, look at Tasker, it allows you to define a multitude of rules, for instance disable the keyguard when a particular Wifi SSID is detected and enable it otherwise.

For your other question. MobileDefense is apparently very good, but as you've pointed out is currently in closed beta. As an alternative to MobileDefense, consider Wave Secure. It allows remote locking, wiping and tracking of your phone.

For remote locking/tracking, check out MobileDefense.

This app doesn't require any changes in your current lock screen. It is an app that is in the background. For customized lock screens, you can get one of many from the market.

That looks like it would be great, if it wasn't in closed beta. – aslum Aug 1 '10 at 15:20
Sorry, I signed up for this a while back and didn't realize they closed it. – th3dude Aug 1 '10 at 15:21

Not sure if it does remote locking, but FindMyPhone definitely lets you get your phone to do things like tell you its location if you lose it or it's stolen, and might be worth looking into.

Also, not going to help you unfortunately, but for anyone else who might come here looking for answers, the high-end Samsung Android phones (like the Galaxy S) have remote locking, wiping and locating built-in for free using the Samsung Dive mobile tracking service.
