I'm trying to hook up a GoogleTV to an older Sony TV and the TV has an HDMI input but just below it are the familiar red and white RC jacks for audio. I remember trying to hook up my XBox and the audio not working and now I'm having the same issue with GoogleTV and I think it's because this was made before the audio was integrated into HDMI or something.

I look all though the TV setting and couldn't find a "use RCA jacks for audio option" and was wondering if anyone ran into this before and if maybe there is some sort of splitter I could buy.

The first one is $59 and splits the audio and video as you requested. You may be able to find something cheaper direct from China. – h0tw1r3 May 8 '11 at 18:41

@tooshel I'm not sure such a splitter exists. HDMI always carries both video and audio. There's no reason to split them up, unless the hardware is faulty. I assume you've tried a different HDMI cable, so there could be a problem with the HDMI-in port on your TV. In that case you can either use a separate Audio cable (optical in Sony's Google TV BR player, but could be different in Logitech Revue), or a converter like the ones I posted. If your TV has an optical audio input, you can try using that first, since the optical audio cables are a lot less expensive than the converter boxes. – Chahk May 4 '11 at 16:17
"unless the hardware is faulty" -- this is not true. There are plenty of older receiver's and tv's which do not support the audio signal over hdmi. – h0tw1r3 May 4 '11 at 16:52

That seems very unlikely to help. As the item description points out, the cable just puts the digital HDMI signal on some RCA (phono) connectors. It doesn't transcode it into the analogue signal a receiver would be expecting on RCA inputs. I don't know of any A/V receiver that can understand a digital audio signal on RCA inputs. – Dan Hulme May 14 at 8:36
