Here are some key points to this problem. Though not all of them applied in this case, I will still include all of them -- as in another case they might prove helpful: A good starting point to check is apps -> manage apps in Androids system menu, which lists all apps+data and can be sorted by size, to identify the "biggest consumers". While here, you can ...

The current encryption scheme is outlined on the Android website's "Notes on the implementation of encryption in Android 3.0" page. From that page, the specific algorithm used is noted as such: The actual encryption used for the filesystem for first release is 128 AES with CBC and ESSIV:SHA256 That's the only official documentation I've seen for it ...

This looks like the Acer GPS-log leak we had on an Acer Iconia A200: The bottom line is that when the GPS is used, the GPS driver for ICS 4.0.3 on the Acer A-series tablets apparently writes numerous gl-YYYY-MM-DD-HHMMSS.txt files into the /data/gps directory. The files are apparently not automatically deleted, and so over time will consume most of ...

You could give a try to a pre-alpha version of VLC. Be warned this is not a finalized application and there might be errors, but it's still worth a try.

I could have found the solution by myself. Not sure because I haven't tested it yet. For the backup/restore: Titanium Backup (tutorial) For the downgrade/unroot thing: first I could restore Acer's original recovery via Acer recovery installer, then I could downgrade to HC3.0.1 with this I'll give it a try It works perfectly!!!

No you cannot, that is done at build/compile of the source of the said Android version whatever that may be. When the source gets compiled via . build/envsetup.sh This is setting up the environment, and that reads in the potential devices via BoardConfig.mk within each device/product directory. Its when lunch gets executed, the menu shows like this $ ...

As eldarerathis mentioned, you need to charge the tablet using the charging adapter rather than USB. The A500 has 2 USB ports. A regular one, like you'd find on a laptop, for connecting USB devices to the tablet (memory sticks, for example), and a Micro USB port for connecting the tablet to a computer. Make sure you're using the Micro USB port. (Your ...

Have you tried MX Video Player with the MX Video Player CODEC (ARMv7)?

This has nothing to do with the file being of type mp4 and everything to do with the video codec being used. If you have video files that are not playing particularly well on the tablet, you should consider looking at Handbrake, a free piece of software that allows you to convert video formats. In-depth instructions are available at How to: Handbrake and ...

It's plug-and-play on your PC because the industry has an established standard for driver infrastructure in Windows & OSX. Android isn't as friendly to 3rd party drivers. There's some limited success reported with specific models of 3g dongle - you may need to switch devices. Here's a partial list from XDA: ZTE MF 639 (might need roaming enabled ...

I had this same problem with my Acer A100 tablet and found the source of the problem: there's a folder located in /data/gps that fills up with txt files. Mine was 4.3G. If your device is rooted, you can delete them from a terminal emulator or adb and reclaim your space: $ su # cd /data/gps # rm gl-*.txt

Adobe Reader does not seem to have that feature. Why not try ezPDF Reader? It supports whole word searches.

The "classic CWM" does not even support the touch screen. It is operated solely via hardware keys -- usually the volume up/down keys to navigate, and the power button to confirm actions. On devices featuring a trackball (as the "classic htc-wildfire for example), this can be used as well to scroll the menus and confirm actions. Note that there's also a ...

The only way is likely going to where you went today. It will be very diificult to find it without network connection. Lookout Plan B would have helped you if your device had got something to manage SMS but it is a tablet.

First delete the .thumbnail folder within your DCIM directory, then switch of the device and turn back on. This solved the problem for me.

Ahh, soft keys. When the power button is pressed, the hardware raises an interrupt which is handled by an OS-provided interrupt handler. Part of the interrupt handling process included waking the processor from sleep. The software will then turn on the screen (if it was asleep), display a shutdown menu, or some other function depending on the OS version ...

I use Bluetooth File Transfer app. Its worked really well to send file to my computer. you can check multiple files to send at the same time and this has worked well for me. It also works well to send file back and forth between two phones if they both have it installed.

Seems due to a limitation in the OS (Android I mean) that hides (why the hell??!?!?) ad hoc networks like HD2 creates. Solution is posted on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060909 and is now working!

As far as I know, the 3.2 update on the A500 has not been rooted (some discussion here). There's one XDA thread where someone has described a method of downgrading so you can root, but nothing that lets you root 3.2 in and of itself. If you want to have root access then I would suggest rooting the shipped version, then manually upgrading to a pre-rooted ...

I can't answer the first part of your answer. For the question better MP4 player I'd suggest you Mobo Player and Rock Player.

The USB host mount script seems to be on the flaky side. My tab reports the drive is inserted but is not mounted to /mnt/usb_storage. A reboot is the only way I've found to fix this.

So yeah AES 128, that's a big number right? One problem, the key used to encrypt the drive is the same as the key you use to unlock your phone, which is tiny. It would take a grand total of 5 minutes to perform an offline brute force against this tiny keyspace. WisperCore has a modified android version with more reasonable security measures.
