Answer With Android 4.0 ICS, charge only mode is no longer available. Unfortunately there's no app to deal with this issue AFAIK. You can try, but I believe that this isn't possible with your phone, but for future readers, placing the phone in "media transfer mode", allows access to SD cards on both phone and computer. Further into this matter One can ...

In ICS, it's up to the application. You will have to check the settings for each individual app and see if they allow you to control what shows up in your Notification bar. Unfortunately, there is no way to control this through Android itself... However, note that in Jelly Bean, the ability to monitor and control which apps display notifications is ...

Short Answer There's no such thing as "randomly break", phone owners tend to use or make up terms to disguise their ineffectiveness to explain what happened, or as an excuse to avoid saying "I broke my phone". Common factors leading to the Glass or the display damage are, but not limited to: Manufacturer fault, a damage batch; Device falling or getting ...

The RAZR does have an NFC chip in it. Currently the device does not have the drivers so the OS can make use of the chip. Motorola has been quoted to say that the RAZR is getting NFC support when the device gets the ICS update. Basically, the device could support NFC now, but Motorola, for one reason or another, did not include the components that would be ...

Though Alex's answer has its point; but as the OP confirmed the second adapter in question is a HTC charger, I hold it more likely that a special "PIN usage" is the cause. As I explained in my comments to the question: PinOuts describes how the PINs of the USB connector are used in general. screenshot from PinOuts.ru Note the "x" PIN which, according to ...

Can't see how to get an individual bookmark with a thumbnail screenshot of the webpage, but there are a couple of similar things you can do with the default browser in ICS. In the screenshot above the top row are bookmarks added to the home screen by going into the browser, opening the bookmarks list, long pressing on a bookmark and selecting "Add to Home ...

Virtually all Android devices have the Developer options menu. This is stock Android; a carrier or device manufacturer would have to explicitly remove it. If they did, the hue and cry from actual Android developers would be very loud; some might even refuse to develop for such a device, which would have a negative impact on device sales. In Ice Cream ...

Install WidgetLocker Locksscreen. Using it, you can put high no. of apps on lockscreen.

Perhaps you had the Google Unread Mail app on your old phone?

You can plug the phone in and charge it using a powered USB hub that's not connected to a computer, this will just charge without mounting drives. It sounds like something you probably won't have handy, but have a look at your PC's screen. Many modern screens have powered USB sockets, but aren't actually connected to the PC (unless you plug a second USB ...

I have done that months ago for the very same reason, so I can tell from my own experience: you will no longer receive update notifications while on mobile data (naturally) no apps will auto-update while on mobile data (again, naturally) Both is what you want. I encountered no more restrictions. Update notifications coming in as soon as the device is ...

You probably haven't actually deleted the app, as that would have to be done via the Play Store or Settings menu. Remove From List should only remove an app from the multi-tasking list, or at most close the background process. Check the list of apps in your task launcher and you should still find it available.

If you enable USB Debugging Mode, the phone will connect to your computer and charge as usual, but you will not get any auto-mounting for the phone storage. Enable USB Debugging in Android 4.0 Click your device home button; Tap "Settings"; Scroll your way to "Developer options" and tap it; Check "USB debugging". Enable USB Debugging in Android 2.3 ...

My current guess is that the script took a lot of CPU time because it uses a very inefficient way of calculating the log file length, which is to read the entire log file to memory and use length. This shouldn't have been much of an issue if the log file is small, but since you said that log file's current size is more than 50MB, this shows that the log file ...

I would say you are very lucky to have that UI (user interface). I've been waiting to get that version, to no avail. What you have is the Holo-fied UI of Facebook, which I think was initially available to selected alpha testers of the Facebook app. A group would get the Holo version, while the rest would get the regular version. This concept is called A/B ...

If they are the apps came originally with your device (and are not available for download in the Play Store), you can back up your phone and go for a factory reset. Restore everything afterwards. This option would be fine since your device is still new. If the apps are available for download at Google Play Store, simply go there and install them. This ...

You might want to use some package inspector like e.g. App Detective to see what receivers the app in question has set up. Most likely it's acting on some broadcast, such as e.g. "sdcard mounted", to check for media, or "network changed" to check for other DLNA services. If your device is rooted, you might be interested in apps like ROM Toolbox or Autorun ...

Whether you still can update to "official versions" via ota-update or otherwise, depends on multiple things. Basically, the manufacturer might include a check whether the currently installed ROM is valid -- in this case, an update will fail as you changed the /system partition during rooting. If no such check takes place, an update might succeed -- but you ...

If you need to unlock the bootloader first (I could not find that in the instructions; you might check the script for the term oem unlock, usually done via fastboot), this includes a factory-reset, which would mean "all clean up delete", i.e. all data and your self-installed apps would be gone. Otherwise, if no bootloader-unlock is involved, the rooting ...

I solved the error. Instead of selecting pictures from a folder, use the album, and the picture folder will be listed as an album. Deselect all the other albums, and pictures should show up.

You can use Droid@Screen to see the screen on a computer. Since you have stock ICS, Droid@screen should be enough to boot into stock, remove the CM10 install and/or do a factory reset.

I'm not sure this would be helpful, but I love this app called Button Savior, which provides on-screen access to many of the functions you would find only via hard buttons. You can activate it by a simple swipe, or by pressing a very translucent button that's always on the screen. Some of the functions do require that you have rooted your phone, but not ...

(1) If you have root, you can use Titianium Backup, and uninstall "Device Management 3.0" (or some other version). (2) OR, [also needs root], remove dmclient.apk, dmclient.odex, cmclient.apk, cmclient.odex from /system/app. Back-up these files first, in case you want to update in the future; you will need these.

A variety of issues can cause Windows to report This device cannot start (Code 10). The first thing to check is to go to Windows Update and install any relevant updates for your computer. You may also need to select any optional updates which aren't yet installed. Once the computer is up to date, try reinstalling the device driver provided by the phone ...

So turns out some of the email settings got munged and it was simply a matter of deleting the account info from the phone and then adding it in again.

This seems like a bug in one of the apps you use. Best you can do is report it to their developers through the Play store.
