I just went through the same issue.
Definitely solved now.
At first I had a very bad connection speed even on H+ or 3G. On spotify app the "bad connection" problem turned to "no connection" so I decided to investigate.
The problem was my network AP which was configured over "WAP" which is not a real full featured Internet connection.

Just go to settings and enable "Private Sessions" That will disable sharing of the songs you listen to.

Sure. Just turn off audio notifications. That won't have any effect on the media volume.
This will, of course, turn off the phone ringer, which you may not want.

Maybe... WaveControl says it can control Spotify and has Tasker integration. I'm not a Spotify user, though, and it's much too late to check it out right now.
