My Android tablet seems to be “read-only” In my case, factory reset also did not work. I needed to actually flash the ROM and completely reformat the thing. I still have no clue why it happened in my case; I didn't have any antivirus/security apps installed at all. But this might help someone else with the same problem, so +1 |

Can you damage the proximity sensor if you keep it always on? How would it define "when needed"? |

How does Google Maps estimate my location without GPS? Fascinating... it's the only logical explanation for my tablet (with no gps) to get 60m accuracy, off our home's WiFi. The center location shown is always exactly in the same spot, which happens to have gotten set just across the street from our house. |

How to use a Droid 2 without Verizon service activation incidentally, for anyone with a Droid Pro, this also works on that device. |

Does Android suffer from the same “over a period of time” performance degradation that OSes like Windows do? funny... I have Windows systems running for years and Androids running for many months with no degradation in performance. |

I get no ping repsonse to my phone. Why? It is very likely that the provider's network and the phone's configuration itself both block incoming connections of any sort, except any that the provider specifically wants open. +1 |

I get no ping repsonse to my phone. Why? Not entirely sure what this answer is saying, but it seems to have originated from a very naive idea of what IP addresses are and how they are assigned and used. |

Is it possible to stop notifications of an OTA update? I'm on GB, and there were no comparable options I could find. The FREEZE method via Titanium Backup seems like a viable option, and earned my +1, but I wasn't so sure I was finding the correct thing to freeze. I'll have to poke at that some more. Incidentally, though; it seems that after you cancel it enough times, it goes dormant for a while, then comes back a few times, and goes dormant again. I expect it'll keep coming back, though, so I'm going to look more closely at the options via TB. |

Is it possible to stop notifications of an OTA update? tagged as clockwork mod since that was part of the rooting/modding process I followed. |

Can deleting stock web browser cause problems? Incidentally; I would disable, rather than delete. Just in case... |
