I code for fun, mostly self taught, both high and low level. Also self taught in various aspects of information security. Love the puzzles.

Why does my Android phone download files slower over the same network than my laptop? Phone may also be limiting the connection to save battery power. |

Why does my Android phone download files slower over the same network than my laptop? The antennas in the phone are a lot smaller and subject to certain restrictions in how well they receive and transmit data and the laptop has a lot more power for filtering out the interference. The distance to the router/base-station is important as is constantly changing atmospheric conditions. Finally, how quickly the phone can write it to the card may play a part depending on circumstances. Ultimately there are too many variables to point to a particular cause. And all that is assuming there isn't a bug in the radio driver or firmware that is on the phone. |

Reconnect to mobile via USB without rebooting Shouldn't be an issue, certainly isn't here with my Galaxy Nexus, you could try an "adb usb" from the CLI? Unless it's the operating system just not detecting it and loading the drivers. Is this a work machine, does it have any software added to not allow unauthorized USB devices? |

Batch Update Android alarm ringtone? the built in alarm clock has a default for new alarms, at least on ICS and later it does, it's in the settings menu in the app. |

Does Bluetooth tethering not work, or am I doing it wrong? On my JBed galaxy nexus it works between desktop and phone no problem. This could be that the tablet isn't setting up routing information properly or similar. |

My new phone came with super user but I didn't root it On can install the SuperUser or SUElite apps without root (they are updaters and settings manager for rooting), root is actually the su binary on the system. Those apps will tell you it's missing if it's not there and you try to run them. |

How to see the device list of a given Google account You google dashboard also gives some information, more detailed in some respects (shows EMEI on GSM handsets for example), less in others: google.com/dashboard |

Does Android support the single-user mode runlevel? Android boot loaders don't tend to expose the functionality of changing kernel command line parameters, also single user mode would need a serial terminal or similar for input. |

Is it possible to make my Samsung Galaxy Nexus use usb storage? @loics2 still needs a kernel with the mass storage driver, most kernels have it for micro sdcard support, as the galaxy nexus has no microsd card the stock rom kernels do not have this driver. |

Is it possible to make my Samsung Galaxy Nexus use usb storage? Not on the stock kernel, the mass storage drivers are missing, however most custom kernels have them. |
