comment How can I install an app if I have inconsistent UIDs and the market app crashes?
Hi @Izzy, I had tried to factory-reset the phone without success. As far as you know, does the reset purge the caches, too, or not? I have in the meanwhile got a new phone...

Sigh. Tomorrow I will try to update the system from the LG site. Maybe it will fix it: in that case I will update this question.

I tried calling the magic number but the reset didn't start. I tried the third variant and it applied the reset, but it gives the same result as my previous tests: that is I have to reconfigure everything and the data partition is still inconsistent.

comment How to find out the UID of a given file/folder?
Having to root the phone just to find out the uid of a folder seems a bit excessive. I mean, probably there's no harm involved but for such a simple query I am a bit surprised. I will try to install one of the apps that you told me and see if the standard authorizations are enough. For the moment, I'm doing the third factory reset in a few hours...

yes this is exactly what I am looking for. A little problem is that I have not idea of how logging with a normal or the root user. I don't even know my username :-)

Unfortunately it didn't appear to solve. Is there a way to manually wipe the data partition? Which by the way appears to be empty (I am using astro, I have a /data folder which is shown to be empty. I also have a /sdcard/data folder, which contains an almost empty folder /sdcard/data/colornote/backup with two files within).
