comment “Account unlock” when not connected to internet?
You should be very cautious about installing random apps from discussion forums...

None of this works on Kitkat/CM11.

Yeah, this was the issue. It's a horribly unintuitive "feature" that seems to have confused a lot of people.

I agree. Unfortunately, there is no stable CM11 build for the HTC One, and CM11 is the only build that supports it, even though its been available for over a year.

comment How to make screen stay turned off when plugging charger?
Bears are dangerous, not free! But seriously, this app is pretty close. Doesn't actually keep screen off, it just immediately shuts it off. One minor bug seems to be that when you unplug the phone, the screen stays off, but the buttons turn on and stay on.

This not a useful answer. If you don't know, please don't submit an answer saying only that. Besides, as others have mentioned, this is flat-out wrong anyways...

Yeah, after several hours of Googling, I figured this out on my own. Although I ended up using TWRP, since that's what was recommended by the guide I found. I now have Cyanogenmod 11 installed. Unfortunately, it's horribly broken. No USB support. Browser and most other standard apps force close. This is an absolute disaster. I'll probably have to reinstall the original ROM. What a waste of my time.

comment How to enter USB debugging mode in Cyanogenmod
So let me get this straight. The stock Android installed by default, designed to be used by Joe Average Sixpack had dev options enabled by default, but Cyanogenmod, which is so complicated to install that only developers can figure it out, hides developer options by default? Who's running this railroad? But no, that doesn't seem to be the issue. I have NO USB access at all. I can't even connect to my phone as a USB mass storage device.
