comment Android ICS spell checker does not know how to spell (English)?
Are you using a completely stock rom from an OTA? If this is a custom ROM, please share the details on what it is.

comment open and accept calendar invitations
This is only partially the case. Although there's no convenient way to do anything with an ICS attachment directly from your phone, you can have Google Calendar automatically add a corresponding event to your calendar when a .ics pops up in your inbox. Just enable the setting, Automatically add invitations to my calendar in your Google Calendar settings (from the Google Calendar website). Then when you receive a meeting invite, it'll already be in your calendar by the time you see the email. You can then RSVP from Google Calendar (the site or the app).

comment Accessing the internal phone memory by swapping out the SIM card
Unless there's some sort of backdoor in the operating system, the only way to root your phone involves unlocking the bootloader. Unlocking the boot loader involves wiping your phone, which gets rid of any data you hope to be hiding. So you're pretty safe

comment How can I upgrade to the latest Android version?
If, even after using the checkin trick, you're still not prompted to upgrade, consider contacting your cellphone provider or manufacturer to figure out whether your entitled to the upgrade (in your country, or with your provider). If there's anything you feel suggests you should be seeing the upgrade (a friend with the same phone has an upgrade, or you saw something on the internet somewhere) consider editing your question to include such details.

If there is some evidence an update may be ready for your phone and you feel you just need to have your phone check again, one way that was rumoured to work is to open up your dialer and dial *#*#checkin#*#*. It is unclear whether this actually works, but it's worth a shot. As for which version you may be entitled to, I had a look at the Wikipedia page for your phone and the latest update released was 2.3.6. Did you hear or read somewhere that Android 4 would be made available for your phone?

comment Are there USB to LAN adapter that are compatible with Android 4.0?
Is there a make or model on your Android Tablet? Do the directions that come with the tablet promote support for USB devices? As far as I know, in order for your tablet to support USB devices, it would need USB Host support, and even then, it would need drivers for whatever device you're trying to use. I've seen people get USB keyboards and mice working, but nothing as complicated as an ethernet controller.

@Steffen: As for your Gmail, although all communication with the Gmail Server is encrypted, synced messages are stored in the clear on your phone. However, as long as you haven't rooted it (and as long as your bootloader is locked, and your operating system is up to date), this database should be safe from other applications. If you want to ensure that someone couldn't somehow read what's on the internal storage without going through the operating system, consider full-phone encryption.

@Steffen: I believe this is configurable, but from what I've observed, it's 5 attempts 'til a cooldown period of 30 seconds. During this cooldown period, you'll have an opportunity to use your Google Account password as an alternative way to unlock your screen.

In addition to asking here, you may also want to go directly to Amazon. They have a vested interest in helping you buy their merchandise.

comment What is cleared when I restart my phone?
It depends on the application. All applications are notified when the phone is shutting down (and also when said apps move to the background) and can choose to save state at that time. As the answer below states, some sorts of apps, like games, choose not to save state.

revised Stopping Dolphin Browser Mini from reloading (Question about memory and cache)
Just correcting the name of the browser: Dolphin Browser Mini, instead of Dolpine Mini/Dolphin Mini Browser.
