comment Google maps location History is placing me in a different hotel
Your understanding is correct. If the software can't get a GPS fix within a reasonable time frame, it will try less accurate ways to get your location until it gives up. These include nearby Wi-Fi aps, nearby cell-sites, and your last known location. There is a lot of room for error here. And all data (including erroneous info) is sent to Google to form your location history. This is why sometimes if you look at past route, it looks like ur offroading sometimes.

comment What could cause the camera to turn on automatically while the phone is in standby?
The NSA. Just had to poke that one :-) Seriously, though, maybe the OS has a gesture that turns on the camera automatically, and the detection's off. May be worth a trip through the settings to confirm.

comment Does unlocking the bootloader pose any carrier/network related risk?
Do you know of a way to relock the boot loader? If there is, you could always try and see, then use that as your exit strategy.

comment How safe is it to use Aptoide?
I think an app store is as safe as your trust for the curators or (in the case of an entirely open app store) the developers who submit apps. IMHO, for Aptoide, I'd put it in the "just as safe as the app devs" category. But that's because I know nothing about the curators interests here. I would hope that even though they just made it harder to figure out if an app dev is asking more than s/he was for a previous version, Google has a vested interest in not having malicious apps spread across their ecosystem. Not sure on Aptoid's motives.

comment Error: insufficient permissions for device, how to add permissions?
Is the option to enable USB debugging on? It should be in the same Developer Options section of the settings.

comment BTSync not syncing KeePassX database files (kdb)
Are you sure it's closing the database? Or simply re-asking you for the password. Is there and option to explicitly close and reopen the database?

comment BTSync not syncing KeePassX database files (kdb)
I'm not sure how to check if the file is being closed and then reopened, but you could explicitly do this yourself occasionally to see what happens. To close the database in Keepass2Android, go to lock it, then when prompted for your password, click the close button. After updating the database on another computer (and after btsync does its thing) try closing and reopening the database in Android to see if the changes appear.

comment BTSync not syncing KeePassX database files (kdb)
Are you sure the program you're using on Android is closing and reopening the file? Unless it closes (flushes in-memory contents of) and opens (re-reads) the file, btsync and your keepass client will not know when the data is changing on your mobile device.

comment what does SERIAL and proc permissions stand for?
Yeah. What i usually do is email the developer. S/he may have accidentally left the permission in from a testing phase, or (more likely) could be using a method or package that just requires this permission, giving him/her no choice but yo ask for it. The only sure way to know is to ask. BTW, if this answered ur question, don't forget to mark it as answered.

comment How to right-click in google chrome
Although it's unfortunate, there is no way to send a right click to a web page in a mobile browser using only the touchscreen. Sites (like Maps) could choose to respond to alternative gestures like a long-hold, but are not required to. Google chose to go the native app route for complicated interactions on mobile. If this answers your question, please mark it as such. If not, please do edit your question to describe what ur really after.

comment what does SERIAL and proc permissions stand for?
Edited the answer. I'm not sure why this app needs it, but serial allows an app to get a unique identifier for your phone. For internet enabled apps, should anything need to be stored on an external server, the serial number can be used as your "account name", and can be associated with your data. As stated, though, its unclear how DiskUsage intends to use this.

If you think about it, they already did. They provided a native Maps app for the more involved interactions.

comment How can I reset WiFi without rebooting the phone?
There's an option in WiFi settings that makes Android ignore networks with weak signal. You may want yo confirm this option is off.

May i ask what you're trying to do with the filenames? It may be possible to accomplish what you're after without using ls.
