How to start deskclock timer via NFC Makes sense. Perhaps it is worth it to submit a feature request to the developers. The app is regularly updated, so it is under active development. |

How to start deskclock timer via NFC OK, that's true, I think. This requirement was not clear to me from your question, though. What is there against writing on a dedicated tag? |

What's the difference between Android Beam vs S Beam? Apart from the difference in data transfer method (Bluetooth vs. Wi-Fi Direct), Android Beam in Jelly Beam and S Beam are also different in how they use NFC. S Beam uses the ICS Android Beam to do its work, while the new Jelly Bean Android Beam feature is not visible to an ICS device (it uses a different LLCP port). It will be interesting to see how this will be solved when (if?) the SGS3 is updated to Jelly Bean. |

Why does my Galaxy S3 make a noise when I put it down? There are NFC cards and tags that contain data on which your phone can automatically act, such as open a webpage or connect to a Bluetooth carkit, for example. Examples of such tags are Sony's Xperia SmartTags and Samsung's TecTiles. |

NFC functionality in Google Nexus S? The Nexus S (and the Galaxy Nexus) actually contains a combination of the PN544 and a Secure Element (based on the SmartMX, a smart card IC). This allows the Nexus S to do card emulation as ISO 14443-A and MIFARE Classic. This is exactly what Google Wallet uses. |
