comment How can I can open local files in the default Android browser?
@Spook I thought that it was possible that things had changed in the 3 years since I wrote that comment, but no. I just tried it on my Nexus 5 (Android 4.4.4) and my Xoom (4.1.2), both running Firefox 31, and it works in both. Firefox does change ‘file://’ to ‘file:///’ but that's the only difference from my comment above.

comment If I install a ROM that doesn't exactly match my phone, will it work at all?
If they were that similar and software from one could just run on the other with no changes, then the manufacturer would release updates for the budget model at the same time as the high-end one. They wouldn't have any reason not to if they didn't need to make extra changes or do extra testing.

comment Why is the Android stock browser still alive?
If you're using the browser for Flash, the only really trusted location for it is directly from Adobe helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/…

comment How to use PC's internet on android phone through USB cable
For the first method, if you can't find a sharing tab in the network properties in Windows, then you could post a question to our sister-site superuser.com (they deal with problems with PCs and Windows) asking why you can't see that tab on your network properties in Win 8.1.

comment Can tablets advertised with Android 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3 be updated?
You could also have a look through some our questions that list devices that are known to have updates available (though those are just the devices that we've looked for or noted, just because a device isn't doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't have updates): When will my device get the Android 4.1 update (Jelly Bean)? and the questions for other versions linked frfom there.
