comment Images have disappeared from gallery, but still in “My Files” (Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, 5.0.2)
It's not a problem of those 3 apps (you don't need to run them in an emulator), it's very probably a bug in Samsungs Android Firmware for the S6, alas. Hence my suggestion to install the Android SDK and use it to dump the logs using 'adb.exe logcat'... No idea what crashes the media scanner (it should rerun on it's own and repopulate the gallery).

Have you tried each of these: SD Card Rescan, Rescan SD Card!, SD Scanner

This should definitely not happen, seems to be a Samsung software bug. Alas remote help is not easy w/o more info. Could you provide logs? The tool in question is "adb logcat" which is part of the Android SDK (if you happen to run Linux, you can install only the android-tools-adb package that comes with your distribution). You can then provide logs when the SDrescan crash happened and maybe also why the gallery stays empty (which should automatically be repopulated).
