comment Non-HTTP connections time out
@DanHulme: Yes, I can. I see the player 'load' for a long time (5-10 times longer than to just display a page normally) and then display 'There was an error connecting to Facebook' or similar, depending on the app.

comment My samsung galaxy player 5 does not connect to the internet, but apparently connects to my router
Izzy: Ok, installed both of those, neither of them have DHCP only. They do what they say and make static IP switching easy, but not more.

comment Will an Android phone connect to Wi-Fi and download apps without a subscription?
@Alenanno: while it's a moot point anyway,an android phone without subscription can be the android equivalent of a iPod (since it has the same feature set), while the inverse is not true.

Is it possible to root the Galaxy Player so that it runs Jelly Bean?

"there is no equivalent of an iPod among the Android phones". I'm asking about the other way around.

Which one would you suggest? Are there any other models like the Player? Does it do as much?
