comment Xperia Z3 boot loop after TWRP installation
I'd say the person who wrote that howto messed up: recovery mustn't be flashed to the boot partition, but to the recovery partition. With your device no longer booting up (I doubt it would even boot to recovery), and not even fastboot working, you will have a hard time getting that fixed – I'm not aware of any solution here (unless there's a bootable SD card for that device which could be used to fix it up).

Glad I was able to help! And be careful as well with what you restore from your backup :)

I just tried to cover the whole thing, @dh47 – see the notification part, which might be what you've experienced.

They all "look official", that's special styling setup on malware-ridden sites. As the reset solved it for you, I will make this an answer with some more details – please "accept" it then (ticking the check-mark next to it) to signal others this is a working solution.

What did the notification look like? I'm afraid you've just installed a Trojan (malware). With some luck (if that malware didn't manage to obtain elevated privileges and install itself as system app), a factory-reset might cure that. Its permanent switching on of network functionality suggests it's "phoning home", very likely transmitting personal data.

comment Run Bash Script from Terminal
Just wondering why. Isn't /sbin in your $PATH? For me it is. Apart from which: I'm not sure if your call to symlink() is correct (not familiar with that one from flashing). For the CLI tool, syntax would be ln -s <file> <link>. Maybe you've just got it the wrong way around? The code in your question puts the target (link) first, and the source (file) last.

comment LG G3 - 4.4.2 - Stop SMS converting to MMS
Thanks for the additional details! Good to see you did your research before posting your question. Hint: in such cases, it's good to point that out in the question as well ("what you've tried and where that failed") – so people know they don't need to recommend the same things again :) // Sorry, as someone who rarely uses even SMS, I unfortunately cannot be of further assistance here. Good luck – hopefully someone else jumps in soon!

So what do you miss in there that I should add? It's already more complete than the hints I gave in the comments which lead to your solving the issue :) That the Now app appears in Google Settings is not related to your issue as far as I see it. Lots of Google stuff appears in their settings app, logically :) – Oh, reading the comments again (reflecting your latest now) it seems I slightly misunderstood you. Please check back in 2 minutes, I'll update my answer :)

That might be, but Now is part of Search AFAIK. Btw: As this solved your issue, consider ticking the check-mark next to the answer to indicate such – which then helps others with this problem identifying working solutions :)
