That's a so-called "captive portal". As I have not L-device: does that no longer open in the browser at all there?

comment Movement (Gyro) Input Reversed?
Might be a stupid thing, but the first coming to my mind (admitting to never having used that hardware): have you tried to rotate the entire thing by 180°? I'm not even sure whether that's possible – but sometimes it's the easy things... ;)

comment Unable to send attachment, but there is no email?
"object" is not the name, but the "type" I'd guess. If there's no "outbound mail pending" which could be the cause, have you checked your MMS as well? Even if you're not aware of having composed one, some app might have (or you, just by accident).

comment recovery does not recognise / mount SD card
No, it's not – OS goes to /system mostly (OK, parts might go to /boot, but no OS parts go to /sdcard as that's "user space"). If you have shell access when in recovery, you can try cat /proc/partitions to see all available partitions. The external SD card usually only has one partition, so it should be easily identified. Then you could umount /sdcard, and mount /dev/block/<partition> /sdcard – aftger that TWR should see the files stored there. Worth a try at least, doesn't break anything; if it doesn't work out, a simple reboot reverts it.

comment Photos/Media/Files and Full Network Access
@ShihabSoft That AppOps interface has never been official. It was a hidden activity when found first with 4.3, got harder to unveil with 4.4, and AFAIK finally disappeared again altogether. There are several apps which can make it visible (see my Permission Manager list), but those are often depending on specific Android versions (due to the fact described before).

comment Photos/Media/Files and Full Network Access
That's a speculative question we cannot answer here – while most of us wished it were that way. It even looked as if Google were taking that approach, when "AppOps" was found with 4.3 – but then again that was buried. For alternatives, take a look at my Permission Manager list; but most of them will require your device to be rooted.

comment Recover LG G2 (VS980) Phone Using Only Sideload
What modi can you boot the device into (normal/recovery/fastboot)? What does "resurrect" mean, what's wrong with the device? What device is it, what Android version is it running?

comment I need to do a factory reset on my phone
While on it: Contacts › Menu › Export/Import › Export to SD Card (and lateron of course Import from SD Card) gives a local backup, no cloud required.

comment recovery does not recognise / mount SD card
To answer your last question: That depends whether they have one :) On my devices, it points to the internal SD cards. On some of them, when booted into "user mode", the external SD card is mounted inside that one (e.g. /sdcard/external_sd), on others in a different place – which again depends on the ROM used (e.g. my LG O4X had it inside /sdcard with stock ICS, but has it outside with stock JB).

Margaret: First welcome to Android Enthusiasts! You've already found our backup tag. On our site, most tags have a tag-wiki with first aid and information if you hover your mouse over them and select the "info" link. You might wish to see our backup tag-wiki, which gives you all details you need, e.g. pointing to Full Backup of non-rooted devices / How to backup an Android device? and other places, plus giving details on different methods.

Google Backup as you've described won't cover all apps data: apps must explicitly support that, and only few do. Neither would I fully trust the contacts/calendar sync as only way – plus not everybody wants to have his/her data on those servers.

comment fixing a corrupted SD card in linux
I'd say so, yes. In the worst case, it should at least show (and use) that first primary partition (with all ROMs AFAIK). Swap might need the kernel to support it, though.

Thanks for the update, Zymus! I've integrated that with your question directly, so we can delete the comments now (note you always can edit your question to include further details – makes them easier to spot than in comments).
