comment How can I uninstall an app I downloaded, that won't let me uninstall it?
Have you checked if that app registered as "device admin"? If so, unregister it (removing it from device admins; you can find this in Settings › Security › Device Administrators). An app registered as device admin can block its uninstallation. And avoid that app in the future: a photo admin has no reason for being device admin. If it requests such, I'd count that as indication for malicious intend.

@Firelord OK, so it's not just me. Maybe it's a deprecated parameter no longer used since Android x.y. As usually, documentation is a rare thing with those.

PS: I've just done a test-uninstall. Your command didn't yield that. What worked: adb shell "logcat -v time | grep -i uninstall". Note the -i for case insensitive grep (the log has it as "Uninstall"), plus the -v time parameter (OP wanted to see when that happened, not only that it happened :)

On Windows: adb shell "logcat | grep install". Note the quotes: this tells adb shell to run the whole thing on Android – where it finds the logcat command as well as grep. But the point is: limited use. This way you might see what happened in the last few minutes – but for sure not a couple of days back.

@Firelord provoked upvote granted :) I knew about airplane-radios – but not how to toggle them via ADB. Good job!

comment Update APK from command line using ADB?
@Firelord might do, but might have side-effects. I tried that recently with a system app, and you know what happened :) Well, apart from the real trouble: there might be side-effects (as the lost account in my case). When using that approach, I strongly suggest doing so while booted into recovery.

comment how can I customize Andriod interface?
Welcome to the Android Enthusiasts! There are way to many ways (oops) for customizing to put that in a single answer – which makes your question "too broad". I'd recommend sticking with your example here, asking explicitly for that (and removing the other parts of your question). Do it step-by-step. Use separate questions to ask for other things you want to change. The question-and-answer format of this site works best if you put each question in a separate question post. You'll get better answers that way.

comment Getting “???” and no permissions when using 'adb devices' on Linux
@Rhaegar see: Configuring ADB for Nexus 4 on Ubuntu 11.10. udev is kind of the "Linux device manager". According to the linked Wikipedia article, it might be part of systemd meanwhile on systems having gone that way.

Thanx for the hint, @AlexEssilfie – if you ever figure out where they're going to now (wild guess: /tmp or /data/tmp), would you let us know?

comment How to get rid of update notifications for a given app in Google Play Store?
Thanks for your efforts, David! But I don't like the side-effects it has e.g. on apps with in-app-purchased things, or the my-apps list. Meanwhile I got used to always see 7 updates I don't care for – though I'd wish Google would add an option like AppBrain has in its app: to skip one (or all) updates for a given app. And BTW: Thanks for openness (disclosure that it's your app). I took the freedom to add the link – but also mention the price.

comment What is *Cell standby* and how can I keep it from eating my battery?
@wizlog Lollipop wasn't installed on the cell towers, and neither changed the GSM/UMTS/LTE protocols – so I assume the topic remains relevant. I don't have an LP device here (and no corresponding test environment or the time to run such a test) to see whether LP handles this more efficiently, but it certainly cannot do anything to signal quality (only react on it).

comment Can apps with root access the Internet without listing internet permissions in AndroidManifest.xml?
In short: apps with root access can do anything that's technically possible. They could even upload all your personal stuff to some server and then perform a factory-reset on your device. Or worse (if there is). Which is why one should take extra care when installing such apps (make sure those are.trustable).
