Right. First specify exactly which phone you have. The one you specified in your tags doesn't have an SD card slot, and you couldn't possibly have removed an SD card from it.

@Ariane ICS really needs at least 512 MB of RAM, so even if you could build it, it wouldn't run very well or at all. It's time for a new phone.

You should be able to update automatically over Wi-Fi even if the phone doesn't have active service with Verizon.

You're out of luck with the Play Store. Google, in their infinite wisdom, seem to wait as long as 24 hours before retrying a download in this circumstance.

It disables that app completely, including everything it brings in. As far as I can tell, that includes Navigation, Latitude, etc.
