comment Why are Google Talk notifications at a low volume?
What? I can't put the phone down for a moment and look at the computer? Now that's just silly. So is this behavior from Google Talk.

comment Why are Google Talk notifications at a low volume?
Google assumes that I'm looking at the phone! What if I put it on the desk and looked at my computer or something else, which I always do.

The easiest way is to get a warranty replacement phone. :)

Yes, it is fully enabled and you can access Google from an IPv6-only network. Perhaps English is not your native language?

comment Nexus 7 with AOSP, what is missing from stock?
Your carrier made a slight customization to it, then. Those can usually be bypassed after rooting the device, without doing anything so invasive as replacing the entire firmware.

@t0mm13b So how do you know which sites are reputable?

comment Boot Loop issue
Sorry, I know it's bad news, but even so, the computer might be able to read it. Make sure the card reader you pick up can handle SDHC cards.

Right. First specify exactly which phone you have. The one you specified in your tags doesn't have an SD card slot, and you couldn't possibly have removed an SD card from it.

This app doesn't appear to be available in the United States.

comment Obtaining some 4.0 functions on a 2.3 phone through rooting?
@Ariane ICS really needs at least 512 MB of RAM, so even if you could build it, it wouldn't run very well or at all. It's time for a new phone.

You should be able to update automatically over Wi-Fi even if the phone doesn't have active service with Verizon.

comment How to force phone to switch to faster mobile data network during file transfer
You're out of luck with the Play Store. Google, in their infinite wisdom, seem to wait as long as 24 hours before retrying a download in this circumstance.

comment Is there a way to permanently turn off Google Maps until needed?
It disables that app completely, including everything it brings in. As far as I can tell, that includes Navigation, Latitude, etc.

For the rest of us reading this, this requires root.

comment Data Recovery - How to Restore Deleted / Formatted Files on HD Micro SD Card
Before going to PhotoRec, try TestDisk first (they are part of the same package). It was able to repair the FAT boot block and get the SD card usable enough to copy all my photos off immediately, without having to use the nuclear option. I still reformatted it afterward, just to be sure, and copied my stuff back onto it.

@RobertKoritnik I just booted up the JB emulator and it looks identical there. So go for it.

I don't see why it would be. This functionality has been in Android since nearly the beginning.

Be sure to install Chrome first, so that you actually have a browser...
