How do I change the number identification format (to associate with a contact's number)? Just for curiosity: Which operator in what country do you talk about? |

Is it reasonably safe to use PIN code for encryption? The phone has to be on and on-line some time after you have issued the remote wipe command. If the phone has been switched off (and stays off) the wipe command is useless. |

Is it reasonably safe to use PIN code for encryption? The problem is that a short PIN can only secure the device when it is on. Therefore switching a stolen device off prevents the device from being wiped and additionally the PIN can be broken in an offline brute-force attack. Hence a short PIN doesn't help you in this situation. |

Locking SDHC Memory card on Samsung Galaxy 2 Encryption is the only appropriate solution in this case. Everything else can simply be bypassed by just stealing the sd-card. |

I have a HTC Desire hd and I work in a noisy environment as well as ride a motor bike I often don't hear or feel the vibrations IMHO the simplest solution would be using a Bluetooth headset. Right in the ear you should hear the ringtone. |

SD card unmounted when HTC Desire is being charged (even with a “wall charger”) @Dmitry: Is it the original HTC charger or a third party one? |

How to monitor tethering bandwidth @mahemoff: Do you have to use a special tethering app? Because usually a mobile network operator can not distinguish between traffic caused by the smartphone and a thethered computer. I only know special data plans for computers using a second SIM card (and own UMTS modem) on the same contract - but that has nothing to do with tethering |

Is there a way to create virtual memory? @James Litewski: That is a partition used by the system for storing memory sections that have been long time not used which disburdens the main memory. It is the Linux equivalent of the Windows file pagefile.sys - if you know what that is. |

What info does Google backup? When I used the app restoring feature the last time I observed that some of the App downloads failed as they sometimes do in the Market. The problem is that the Market does not retry to download those Apps. Therefore after a restore you have to carefully check the notifications for failed downloads and retry them manually. |

How To Protect Mobile Internet Access? Then you should use the flight mode and disable the mobile network completely. The SIM PIN is a good protection. |

How To Protect Mobile Internet Access? @Boris_yo: Of course you can not set a password. Apps managing APNs simply automate what is available in the settings dialog - which is accessible by everyone. Therefore a password does not much sense. |

How to Securely Delete Data from Phone and Card I don't think that you need "physical internal access". Android is basically a linux system and on rooted phones you can have access to everything, even the partitions on a level below the file-system. Additionally using a recovery-ROM and tools like nandroid it should be possible to extract the data stored on the partitions. |

How reliable is ICS face unlock? There must be a fall back mechanism - just imagine you are in a dark room... Front cameras usually don't have a LED flash and without the camera doesn't see anything. |

Why SIM toolkit does not work with most custom ROM-s? I would name the new tag (if I could) "sim-toolkit" - this one is used at Stackoverflow. BTW: On my Desire (InsertCoin CM7/STOCK 1.1.2) STK seems to work. |
