comment Is there a way to create virtual memory?
@James Litewski: That is a partition used by the system for storing memory sections that have been long time not used which disburdens the main memory. It is the Linux equivalent of the Windows file pagefile.sys - if you know what that is.

comment What info does Google backup?
When I used the app restoring feature the last time I observed that some of the App downloads failed as they sometimes do in the Market. The problem is that the Market does not retry to download those Apps. Therefore after a restore you have to carefully check the notifications for failed downloads and retry them manually.

Then you should use the flight mode and disable the mobile network completely. The SIM PIN is a good protection.

comment How To Protect Mobile Internet Access?
@Boris_yo: Of course you can not set a password. Apps managing APNs simply automate what is available in the settings dialog - which is accessible by everyone. Therefore a password does not much sense.

comment How to Securely Delete Data from Phone and Card
I don't think that you need "physical internal access". Android is basically a linux system and on rooted phones you can have access to everything, even the partitions on a level below the file-system. Additionally using a recovery-ROM and tools like nandroid it should be possible to extract the data stored on the partitions.

comment How reliable is ICS face unlock?
There must be a fall back mechanism - just imagine you are in a dark room... Front cameras usually don't have a LED flash and without the camera doesn't see anything.

comment Why SIM toolkit does not work with most custom ROM-s?
I would name the new tag (if I could) "sim-toolkit" - this one is used at Stackoverflow. BTW: On my Desire (InsertCoin CM7/STOCK 1.1.2) STK seems to work.

comment Streaming UDP protocol on Android
If the source is your desktop PC I assume that your local network will not have any bandwidth problems - hence you will not face packet loss. Therefore using UDP will not get you any advantage. Have you tried to use TCP for streaming instead?

comment How to Securely Delete Data from Phone and Card
The card is easy to "undelete" - therefore it is strongly recommended to wipe it. Best way would be to use an SD-Card reader on your PC and then use a tool like WipeDisk.

comment How can I remove trusted CAs on Android?
In your list of requirements of important entry for some devices is missing: You need an unprotected system partition (also known as "S-OFF"). If an S-ON system the command "adb remount" will not work.

comment How to switch sd cards when using a data2whatever (d2w) custom ROM?
@Jemus42: If you already have installed a virtualization software like VMWare you can run the Linux system in the VM and only route the SD-Card reader (I assume it's an USB reader) into the VM.

@Seth Hikari: There is one exception: In case the app uses the sharedUserId attribute other apps from the same author can access the private files as well...

AFAIR Samsung does not use EXT3. It uses a proprietary file system called "RFS".
