Can I get an update that isn't for my phone yet? @chipperyman573 There's nothing for you to upgrade to. The code hasn't been ported to your device. It's not that they're denying you it per se, but that they haven't got any update made for it. Someone may have done their own porting work (see Where can I find stock or custom ROMs for my Android device? for places to look for those) that you might try, but Samsung hasn't made any 4.2 update for you yet. |

backing up system image before rooting: please help @user2239505 - Recovery boots you into the recovery, which is a separate small OS, not Android itself. As for a factory reset, what that does is wipe out the /data partition, which contains non-system apps, as well as all user settings and whatnot. The /system partition isn't modified except by system updates. |
