comment Using Android 2.3.4 (stock) as a WiFi Hotsport
Unfortunately none that I know of. I'd get in contact with your carrier if I were you, but don't let them know who you are. Call from a payphone, give them a fake name, tell them you're not yet a customer but you're interested in their service, (however many steps safe you want to be) and ask them what their official policy on tethering is. If you call from your phone they can ID you, and if you start asking about tethering and they happen to restrict it you may be putting yourself in their cross-hairs needlessly. I couldn't find their website, so really you just need to do some research.

Carriers can block tethering if they so desire, so it's highly relevant. Just ask anyone without a rooted device on Verizon in the USA.

comment What does Skype use all those permissions for?
Accounts is probably used to store UserID/PW, personal info is probably to grab your contacts to re-list them in the Skype app since they market it as a phone replacement, and location is probably because something in Skype uses geotagging along with stats like Matthew Read said.

comment Map Image Overlay App
Generally speaking app recommendations are considered off-topic here as outlined in the FAQ. If you can edit your question to make it more of a "how do I do this" question rather than a "is there an app that can" question you'll probably be safe.

comment If an app is written for Android 2.3 will it run on 2.1?
The only caveat to this being sometimes the app will technically "work" because it runs without error, but if an app is not optimized for use across different devices (like when an app designed for a phone is run on a tablet) scaling issues and other subtle differences make the app less usable or sometimes completely unusable. This is more of a problem with the developer not coding their app properly, though, not an underlying compatibility issue between versions of Android.

comment What is the default clock known as?
In what context? Are you trying to hide it? Is it set incorrectly and you're trying to set it to the right time? Do you just want to know what it's called?

comment Where are the water damage indicators on a G2?
I think it would be a little odd if they put a water sensor inside the chassis in such a way, so I don't think the pink you see is a triggered moisture sensor. Then again, I don't own a G2 and have never seen one in person.

I just edited my post, take a look and let me know if this is relevant at all.

That's my feeling as well. Better safe than sorry when the consequences are so drastic.

What method have you used to try to uninstall it? Have you rebooted your phone since uninstalling?

comment Should the phone be fully charged before flashing a rom?
I always just leave my phone plugged in while I make backups or flash a new ROM. If you're concerned with battery calibration you can manually reset it by fully charging your phone and then letting it run down to the point where it shuts itself off twice in a row with no charging between 100% and 0%.

I disagree with the idea that "hack" is necessarily a disparaging term.

comment Google Apps won't flash on HTC Desire (Cyanogenmod)
In my (admittedly very limited) experience doing a normal reboot and then rebooting into recovery seem to have different effects on the phone. When I originally flashed CM6.2.1 on my Droid I installed it via ROM Manager and then had similar issues with GApps, so I rebooted the phone, let it come back up naturally, and then re-flashed the GApps and I ended up getting them on successfully that time. Obviously though with the phones being different and no guarantee that my issue was the same as yours your results may vary.

Did you reboot the phone before any of these flashes?

When did you flash 7? I can't get Cyanogen's site to load and ROM Manager keeps timing out on the download! This waiting thing sucks!

comment Can Android differentiate between headphones and headset?
I have CM6.2.1 installed on my Droid and I get the headset icon in the status bar when I plug my phone into my cassette adapter (cassette tape thing with a 1/8" plug coming out) in my car. There's definitely no mic on that piece of equipment.

comment Withheld, unknown or new number filtering - by asking caller to state their name
Generally app recommendations are considered off-topic here, you might want to edit your question along the lines of "how can I make my phone do..." rather than asking for an app.
