comment Why are some USB chargers slower than others?
@SachinShekhar it is if they use a 1.8A usb spec charger and try to charge an iphone or vice versa.

@Compro01 this does not match my knowledge of how it is implemented, but are you possibly talking about the new design cable?

In addition to @bigbadonk420, if the device does not have data lines shorted your phone should only draw 100mA.

Same as @SergeyVlasov. The USB charging standard has been around for quite a while, every charger you get either follows it, or the standard that iphone uses to ensure you buy their chargers as often as possible. They are different and a charger can not be complaint with both. If the device is "iPhone compatible"(or whatever their term for it is) then it wont be USB compatible and your phone will barely trickle charge from it.

comment Although I was told to charge my Android device before first use, it was already charged. Have I been given a phone rejected by someone else?
Standard for giving the batteries best life is 40% charge during storage, so often a charge of 40% is kept on the batteries until you receive them.

comment How does the GPS work on Android phones?
@Doliveras, I may be mistaken, but you do not need to pay a subscription on the design side either to use the GPS satellites. I have worked with GPS before and even worked on our own receivers and there was not such cost.

comment Blocks all calls not going through Google Voice?
I would be interested in the same thing, but for text messages.

comment Does constant charging harm my Android cellphone?
@JeffAtwood, I have seen battery monitors that need this to stay 100% accurate, but it is a trade-off between battery life and knowing exactly charge left. Most people will chose to know their charge left, I just suggest that you note to people that this does age the battery significantly. You are not wrong, I just think it needs a disclaimer.

@JeffAtwood, yes I do, my answer about charging cellphones elsewhere on this site discusses it. Also, to link directly to a source, scroll down to the bottom and read the "Simple Guidlines". I have also worked with lithium batteries a lot in a professional capacity at the last start-up I worked at, and these sources are backing for me, not the source of my knowledge.
