Is there a way to upgrade my Galaxy to ICS (even by rooting)? It is being worked on forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408312 but because it is not the most popular device there has not been a lot of attention being put into it. Expect a build done not to long as the similar hardware of the Galaxy S phones have one of the best working ICS builds. |

How can data on an unrooted phone be backed up? If you are talking about the application data, it is a security design that other apps can not read this data unless the have super user permissions (root). Everything else can be backed up. |

Disable low-battery warning, specifically on XOOM the sound is in system, an app would have to be root to replace it, doing what you said is your best bet. Disabling the notification all together needs to be edited in the framework. You can not yet do this on the Xoom sorry. |

What does Skype use all those permissions for? Accounts is used so they can added a Skype account associated with contacts so they can be kept separate if you want to delete skype or something. |
