How to simulate cell signal loss? It is already stated in question that if I manually disable the networking, programs receive "there is no network anymore"/"there is network again" messages and it works well. I want to simulate poor networking when the device thinks it's still connected, but in fact the connection is lost for some time. |

How to simulate cell signal loss? I look for software solutions primarily. Like type a command in a root console to stop connectivity (without Android directly knowing I'm stopping it), then a command to re-enabled it. |

How to simulate cell signal loss? As I stated in question, usually just wrapping the phone in foil does the trick. (Actually also wrapping myself around the phone in an accurate way can reduce the weak signal to "No Signal"). |

How to keep CPU off when charging? 1. Android should not be too aware of this program, and it does not touch /sys/power/wake_lock; 2. Even without the program I notice that when the charger is nominally connected, but not charging (e.g. there's only about 3V instead of 5V), it discharges faster (approximately the same rate as if some app holds CPU wakelock). |

How to keep CPU off when charging? Most of my programs for Android are currently in C, require root access and interfaces the Linux kernel directly (I'm currently more Linux hacker than Android hacker). I'm running Android 2.3 on Sony-Ericcson Xperia X10. |

How to keep CPU off when charging? I keep a program that constantly blinks LED when screen is off, so I clearly see when (CPU is on while screen is off). Usually after I press power button to turn off screen, it blinks several times and stops. But when charger is connected it keeps blinking. |

How to make Android play music reliably, without chopping? Also the main question is that updating from 2.1 to 2.3 broke the sound (with approximately the same programs). /* Actually I've begun getting used to stoically ignoring the music choppiness... */ |

How to make Android play music reliably, without chopping? There are many background programs, but I don't feel that any of them are high priority enough to disrupt sound. Low-prio fuss with starting and stopping BG processes just should not bother high-prio music playing. |

How to make “poor man's roaming” by proxying cell calls to SIP or Skype? CallRecorder applications does record calls, for example; and it even does not require the root access AFAIR. Also just recording from microphone should have some effect (poor quality although). |

How to make “poor man's roaming” by proxying cell calls to SIP or Skype? Can I use Android itself as voice-capable modem? For example, what will happen if I call with GSM and CSipSimple simultaneously (will it de-facto route the sound)? |

How to make “poor man's roaming” by proxying cell calls to SIP or Skype? freepbxes.org fail to reply. Also I don't sure it will be available in my country (where state telecom monopolist protects itself with lawsuits against VoIP). |

How to call from console? Where to find a full description of what to do with "service call <whatever>"? I only trial-and-errored "service call wifi 3 s32 0" to disable Wi-Fi (but not re-enable it). |
