Using a Samsung Galaxy SII (SC-02C) in Japan, with Docomo as my service provider. Currently running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, rooted.
Also have a Galaxy Tab 10.1, 16GB, WiFi only. Currently running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, rooted.

Can I replace the system font just for Japanese text? So I can change the fonts on my phone by renaming and replacing the font files, without needing an app? |

Can someone recommend a ROM and kernel for the Galaxy S2 that works fully? @Sparx: It seems there's one more update for the S2 kernel, it's at 3.3.2 now. I've installed that. Also, one more question about the stock ROM. The whole reason I rooted and installed a custom ROM was to remove bloatware and release myself from my carrier's USB tethering charges. If I install the stock ROM, will that not include bloatware and also revert me back to the USB tethering system that was in place before? |

Can someone recommend a ROM and kernel for the Galaxy S2 that works fully? @AlEverett: Except I am not looking for recommendations of just "good" or "better". My current ROM has had specific issues: WiFi, compass, and GPS issues. So is it not specific enough to be looking for a ROM that does not have those issues? |

Can someone recommend a ROM and kernel for the Galaxy S2 that works fully? @ce4: Aren't "nightlies" unstable? I thought "nightly" meant they were the versions being developed and worked on. |

Can someone recommend a ROM and kernel for the Galaxy S2 that works fully? @Sparx: Thank you for the recommendations. However, I've just tried Googling a bit, and I'm not sure exactly what the difference is or where exactly to download. Any chance of a more firm recommendation or breakdown of the differences? Also, are these all ROMs? Is my kernel okay and should I only be looking at ROMs? |

Can someone recommend a ROM and kernel for the Galaxy S2 that works fully? @Sparx: Nothing wrong with it, I just didn't know it was an option. I know a bit about flashing ROMs from having been through the process, but I'm hardly an expert. Where would I get a "stock" ROM? And if I use a "stock" ROM, will I still have root access? |

What are the optimal settings for a video that will be played on a Galaxy Tab 10.1? Great answer! One question: I don't use Handbrake, so I don't know what RF:20 means in terms of bitrate. Can you provide an actual bitrate number that would be ideal? |

Battery life depends on type of charger Whether this is likely to be true or not, this is not an answer to the question. The question is why is the duration shorter, not if it is. You may not believe the questioner's circumstances, but if so, it would be more appropriate to ask them to provide usage data to verify their claim instead of outright dismissing it. It might turn out that usage is the difference, but you may also be surprised. |

Can I open a route I created in Google Maps in Navigation? I have the same experience as @cjk. This method will take a saved location, and then determine a route to that location from one's current location. This is not the same has plotting a whole route, and then being able to follow that route, which is what is hoped for in the question. |

Compass north and south are reversed on my Samsung Galaxy 2 @GAThrawn: I've tried a variety of apps, and as far as I can tell, they all show the exact same problem. |
