comment Why can't I install this downloaded APK?
No, the install isn't greyed out. Does it make a difference what APK file it is?

comment Why is my tablet storage almost full?
I just wanted to give it a little time to make sure I hadn't broken anything. But if you're sure it isn't some kind of critical system file, I guess we're good. Thanks for the help!

This may have worked. Under Storage -> Misc there was a file caled 0 that was 9 GB in size. I took a chance on deleting it, and my tablet seems to be running fine. I hope it wasn't important, but I can't imagine any one file that needs to be 9GB in size.

@Chahk, Thank you for responding. I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling, but YouTube still crashes consistently. I don't know how to get a log from the crash.

The update I was referring to was not the app update, but updating Android.

comment Is it possible to remove the battery percentage on my Samsung S5?
The exact Android version is 4.4.2, as stated. There is no other software version information that I can see. I checked for updates, but none were available.

Thanks for this response. There is no percentage option in either of these locations.

I've added screenshots to the question. Also, I've already stated the Android version is 4.4.2. I'm not sure what other software version you might be referring to.

Thanks for the update. However, I swear my Samsung does not have the "Show battery percentage" checkbox anywhere in the battery settings. It looks exactly like your second image with the graph and the list of applications, but no checkbox for battery percentage.

Thank you for this response. However, in Android 4.4.2 on a Samsung Galaxy S5, there is no checkbox in the location you've described.

Thank you for this response. However, in Android 4.4.2 on a Samsung Galaxy S5, there is no checkbox in the location you've indicated. The screenshots look like maybe they're from an earlier version of Android perhaps.

comment Can I use wifi or Bluetooth to get the same kind of connection to my phone that I can with USB?
Tasker might be a viable option, but I'm actually also unclear on how I can get full file access over Wifi. My phone connects to the Wifi, but it doesn't appear as any kind of available drive on the LAN.

This sounds like a viable option for file transfer alone, but I realize that my question was not clear enough. I'd like to have the drives show up the same way they do as when connected by USB, so that I can do other things like syncing my music collection.

comment Is it possible to transfer one app from my old phone to my new if my phone is not rooted?
Additional note: On my old phone, I had Titanium Backup routinely send backups to my Dropbox account. The apks are individually compressed into gzip format with the name of the app in the name of the compressed file. I viewed it on my desktop to extract it (Maybe there's a decompress app for the phone). Then, by extracting it into my Dropbox folder, I was able to download and install it from within my Dropbox app on my new phone. In other words, the process was actually very easy.

comment How do I get the maximum video compatibility on my Android device?
Adding MX Player and Moboplayer seems to have helped. MX Player made me download an additional app from Google Play with extra codecs.

I only have the one account.

I have installed literally dozens of installs with Google Play from my phone. In accounts under sync, there is no entry for Play, and I have every other account (Gmail, Calendar, etc...) set to sync. I am also only using one account, the same one I have used for years.

Is this any different from deleting the files in /data/log?

comment Why am I constantly running out of space on my Galaxy S2?
Just an additional note for anyone who might be coming across this later: I was confused about the difference between the internal SD card and the internal HD of the device. The internal HD is about 2GB, and the internal SD is about 12 GB (and then there's the additional external 16GB drive.) I kept thinking that if I clean up my 12GB drive that would help, but it's the internal system drive, that is not visible when you connect by USB, where cleaning files was needed.

This may be the answer. In my /data/log (no 's' on 'log') folder, there was about half a gigabyte of data. Clearing this out seems to have helped, as I'm now getting less errors, but I'm going to run for a day or so to be sure.
